Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question about animal communication, a Sniffing Consultation, or exactly how it works? You might find the answer here.
About animal communication
What is animal communication, actually?
Animal communication is intuitively tuning into your animal.
Through thoughts, images, feelings, or physical sensations, I receive information about how your animal feels, what it needs, and what it wants to communicate.
I translate that information into words that are understandable to you.
This provides more insight into the emotions, needs, and inner world of your animal.
Animal communication can help you understand your animal better and deepen your bond.
How do you know that you are communicating with my animal?
In practice, I have actually never doubted that. When I attune to your animal, it is clear to me which animal I am making contact with. I have never experienced making contact with an animal other than the one I wanted to communicate with.
Should I ever have any doubts, I can ask the animal to tell me something from which I can deduce who it is, for example, who its owner is. But so far, I have never needed to do that.
So I do not first look for evidence to determine which animal I am in contact with; for me, that is part of the attunement itself.
Can every animal communicate?
YES!
Can you read minds?
Not like you might imagine mind reading to be. I attune myself to an animal and can then ask the animal a question. The answer can come in as an image, thought, feeling, word, or other impression, for example. I can then respond to that and ask another question.
That is why animal communication feels more like a conversation to me than "reading" minds.
About the consultation
What can I ask my animal?
You can actually ask your animal anything that is important to you.
Perhaps you want to know how your animal is feeling, what it thinks about something, why it is exhibiting certain behavior, or what it needs. Perhaps there is something going on in your daily life that you would like more insight into.
You don't have to formulate your question perfectly. The most important thing is that you know what you would like to understand or know.
Are you unsure about your questions? Then you can always submit them to me in advance.
How many questions may I ask?
The number of questions depends on the Sniffing Consultation you choose. The number of questions included with each consultation is indicated. If you have multiple topics or find that you need more space, the Sniffing Journey is probably a better fit for you than the Sniffing Moment.
What if I don't know what to ask?
That is perfectly fine. Some people find it difficult to formulate their questions clearly beforehand. You don't need a perfect list of questions. Just describe what is on your mind or what you are curious about; from there, you can determine which questions you want to ask your pet.
Can't you really figure it out? Feel free to send me a message. I'll think along with you.
Can my animal also tell something itself?
Yes. Your questions form the starting point of the consultation, but the conversation does not consist solely of question and answer. I also give your animal the space to share something, let you feel something, or pass something on.
That might be something that aligns with your questions, but sometimes something emerges that you hadn't thought of at all yourself. It is precisely those unexpected pieces that can be very valuable.
Can I ask questions about behavior?
Yes. You can ask your animal questions about behavior and situations that you find difficult to understand. Your animal can indicate where that behavior comes from and how it experiences it.
An animal communication consultation is not behavioral therapy, and I do not provide behavioral diagnoses. For severe or persistent behavioral problems, guidance from a certified behavioral therapist can be important.
Health & Wellbeing
Can my animal indicate where it hurts?
Yes, your animal can tell me or let me feel where it is in pain. When you think your animal is physically unwell, it is important to schedule a visit to the veterinarian. I am not a veterinarian and cannot make diagnoses. The only thing I can do is pass on what the animal is communicating to me. I cannot say whether this is medically correct.
Does a consultation replace the veterinarian?
No, absolutely not.
A veterinarian, behavioral expert, or physiotherapist, for example, has their own area of expertise and can be very effectively used alongside a consultation with an animal communicator. One discipline is not a substitute for the other.
Your animal can certainly let me know how it feels and how much pain it is experiencing. Sometimes, as humans, we think an animal is in a lot of pain, while the animal itself indicates that it is not that bad. But it can also be the other way around: on the outside, there seems to be little wrong, while an animal is definitely experiencing pain or discomfort.
An animal communication consultation can therefore provide an additional perspective on what your animal experiences itself.
Can I ask if my animal is happy?
You can certainly ask that! An animal will almost always tell you the reason for it.
Practical
Does my animal need to be with me?
No. Your animal does not need to be present with me or with you during the consultation. I connect with your animal remotely. Therefore, you do not need to be ready or do anything with your animal during the consultation.
It also doesn't matter whether your animal is sleeping or busy playing. We communicate on a soul level, and that can take place at any time of the day. It is possible that you notice something about your animal at the moment I am talking to him, but that is certainly not always the case.
What information do you need from me?
For a consultation, I require a photo of your animal and some details, such as your animal's name and age. I would also like to receive any questions and information relevant to your consultation. This information can easily be entered on the request form for the specific Sniffing Consultation.
How does a remote consultation work?
A consultation takes place remotely. I receive a photo and the information I need in advance. Based on that, I connect with your animal and present the questions you have.
You do not need to be present during the consultation. I take my time to listen to what your animal is telling me and what it wants to share. Afterwards, I compile everything into a personal report.
When will I receive my report?
I will always let you know the latest date on which I will have a conversation with your animal. Immediately after our conversation, you will receive the report via email.
Nice detail: in the top right corner, you will find the start time of our conversation.
Which Sniffing Consultation suits me?
What is the difference between a Sniffing Moment and a Sniffing Journey?
During the Sniffing Moment, you have the opportunity to ask four questions, and during the Sniffing Journey, seven questions. With the latter, for example, you can explore various themes. These consultations can only be booked for a live animal. Would you like me to connect with a deceased animal? Then choose the Silent Sniff.
When do I choose a Silent Cuddle?
The Stiltesnuffel is specifically for contact with a deceased animal.
What is the Sniffing Path?
The Snuffelpad is there for when you feel you want to take a moment more often to check in with how your animal is doing and what is going on. It is a program centered on a single animal, where you decide for yourself when you are ready for the next moment of contact – or when you feel your animal needs it.
Between appointments, we stay in touch via email, and you can also ask questions. This way, we can continue to observe and listen together to what is going on with your animal over a longer period.
Can I ask another question after a consultation?
Do you still have a question for your animal after receiving your report? Then you can request a follow-up sniff. You can ask one or two additional questions during this session.
You can request the Nasnuffel within three days of receiving the report by email.
Are you still unsure?
What if I don't recognize everything?
That is possible. Not everything that comes up during a consultation needs to be immediately recognizable to you. Sometimes you recognize something right away, sometimes information only gains meaning later, and sometimes something remains unknown to you.
Therefore, do not look for proof or recognition, but let it sink in quietly. In the booklet 'Na een Snuffelconsult', which you receive from me after every consultation, you will find further explanation and tips on how to deal with the report.
Am I supposed to believe in this?
You don't have to believe in animal communication beforehand, but it is important that you are open to it.
If you are not open to it at all, a consultation will not work well for you, for me, or for your animal. I would therefore advise you not to request a consultation if you already know in advance that you do not want to or cannot accept any of the communication.
So you don't need to be convinced. Being curious and open is enough.
Can I also have a consultation if there is nothing wrong?
Absolutely. You don't need to have a problem or concern to want to communicate with your animal. Perhaps you are simply curious about how your animal feels, what it likes, what it wants to tell you, or how it experiences your connection.
Animals want to be heard and understood. You might discover something new about your animal or about you as a couple during the consultation.
Is animal communication the same as behavioral therapy?
No. A behavioral therapist looks at your animal's behavior and at factors that can influence and change this behavior. In animal communication, I listen to what your animal itself tells me about a situation, feeling, or behavior.
The two can actually complement each other. When there is a serious or persistent behavioral problem, professional behavioral guidance can be important.
